ABOUT
Born in Jiangsu, China, Grace (Bingyuan) Zhang is a visual artist and finance professional based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and works as a fund manager, balancing a demanding finance career with a rigorous studio practice. Painting has long been her passion and a way to decompress from the intensity of the markets, and she continually seeks opportunities to study art through both formal programs and lived experience.
Her paintings employ flat geometric structures and vivid, contrasting colors to create a cinematic visual rhythm. Drawing on extensive travels around the world, Zhang fuses landscapes, fashion, and narrative into a single pictorial realm. Deeply immersed in haute couture, she collaborates with iconic houses such as Chanel and Dior, designing and wearing finely crafted couture pieces for her artistic self-portraits. Through travel and style, she transforms fashion into a form of contemporary mythology, interweaving visual storytelling with personal identity. Her new golf series merges her fascination with the universe and her passion for the sport, imagining golf as a portal between earthly experience and cosmic space.
Her work contemplates the mysteries of the universe, Earth, and life itself, meditating on the meaning of death through a Buddhist lens. Alongside these expansive themes, she pursues the essence of pure art, exploring the interplay of form, color, composition, and movement.
In addition to painting, Zhang designs original jewelry and fine watch pieces. Her favorite artist and enduring inspiration is Paul Cézanne, whose structural approach to color and form continues to inform her visual language.
